A 31-year-old woman who claims she suffered temporary hearing loss and a painfully bloated face from an injection she received this summer at one of Alabama’s largest hospitals is the 14th person to file a lawsuit in Boston against the Framingham pharmacy linked to the fungal meningitis outbreak that has claimed 36 lives.
If it holds up, Tawan Jenkins’ federal complaint would be the first to emerge from Alabama, where the Centers for Disease Control have not yet identified any cases attributable to the New England Compounding Center.
The CDC is expected to release updated outbreak numbers today. As of last week, the death toll currently stands at 36 people in 19 states. Another 541 people have become ill. more from the link above
